ZTE has announced Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro and Pro+, two of their most anticipated gaming smartphones. Known for their high performance and high resistance, the smartphones from this brand have always been a major hit in the gaming community and these two new phones would not be any different.
The best of the two smartphones is the Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro, a complete beast with a 6000 mAh battery, 80W fast charging, and a lot more. The Pro+ will be a little smaller with a slightly smaller 5000 mAh battery, but it will feature 165W fast charging, which is an added benefit.
Here is what we know about the two smartphones and what you can expect from them.
Performance Specifications
Both smartphones carry the same features apart from the ones mentioned above. The overall design, the camera setup, the software, RAM, storage, and even the chipset is the same. The smartphones will come with Snapdragon Gen 2 chipset, which is the most powerful chipset at the moment.
The Gen 2 chipset will be paired with the Red Magic R2 chip for enhanced gaming effects, better colors, improved sound details, haptic vibration feedback, and touch sensitivity. The cooling system of the smartphone has been updated as well.
While the base Red Magic Pro starts at 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage and goes up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, the Pro Plus model starts at 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and goes all the way to a 16GB RAM and 1 TB storage model.
Other than that, both nubia models feature the same specs and both will be available with a transparent back in a special edition.
The nubia Red Magic 8 Pro specs include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with a red Magic R2 chip designed for gaming, which improves graphics and touch sensitivity and handles haptic vibration.
The Red Magic 8 Pro has a 6.8-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and 960Hz max touch sampling rate and, just like the previous model, sports a 16 MP selfie cam under it.
On the back, you have a 50MP sensor, a 8MP ultra-wide-snapper and a 2MP macro sensor, a decent setup for a gaming phone.
Still, since it’s a gaming phone, the notable specs are not the camera.
Instead, the interesting design choices are related to cooling.
The Red Magic 8 Pro comes with multiple layers of graphite sheets for cooling, a 3D vapor chamber and a 20,000 RPM side fan, so long gaming sessions won’t affect the temperature of this device.
You also have two shoulder keys for the touch sampling and a hard trigger that starts gaming mode, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can connect your favorite gaming headset.
The Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro line-up retails starting at CNY5,199, which translates to about $750.
